Stories from Our 2026 Glimpsers: Midsummer All-Star Blogs

Hello!

I’m Numra, a Global Glimpse alumna and this year’s Summer Intern!

Reading this summer’s blogs brought me right back to my own Global Glimpse journey in Constanza, Dominican Republic, in 2022. Like so many of this year’s students, I returned home with far more than photos and souvenirs: I came back with a new perspective, friendships, and memories that shaped who I am today. The world felt a little bigger, the summer a little brighter, and every challenge became an opportunity to grow. Looking back, it truly was a summer for the books, and I have Global Glimpse to thank for that.

Every summer, Glimpsers return home with stories that capture moments of discovery, challenge, laughter, and growth. Through their daily blogs, they invite family, friends, and supporters to experience the journey alongside them, offering an authentic glimpse into what it means to step outside your comfort zone, embrace new cultures, and grow as a global citizen.

While every blog tells a unique story, a few stood out for the way they captured the heart of the Global Glimpse experience. From creative storytelling and meaningful cultural exchange to community impact, leadership, and personal reflection, these three blogs capture the curiosity, compassion, and resilience that make the Global Glimpse experience so transformative.

I hope you enjoy reading this year’s Mid-Summer All-Star Blog collection as much as I enjoyed revisiting the incredible journeys behind each story.

Exploring Empathy Through an Immigration Experience
Immigration & Beach Day

Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic / Bay Area Delegation
Sometimes the most memorable stories come from the smallest moments. This blog transforms an action-packed day into an engaging narrative, guiding readers through each stop on the itinerary with humor, creativity, and vivid detail. The writers balance lighthearted moments with thoughtful reflections, making readers feel as though they’re experiencing the day right alongside them.

Their storytelling reminds us that every experience—whether participating in an immigration simulation, sharing conversations with peers, or relaxing by the beach—offers an opportunity to learn something new about ourselves and the world around us.

“We went there to learn about their lives as immigrants, the joys they experience, the struggles they go through due to lack of resources, and just to get to know them…It was heartwarming and surprising seeing not only the children but the adults of the community as well greet us so genuinely and warmly.” – Devin & Esdras, Leaders of the Day

Growing Together Through Community Action
Day 6: Speaking with the Trees (CAP Project Part 2)

Las Tablas, Panama / Bay Area Delegation
One of the most meaningful aspects of the Global Glimpse experience is working alongside local communities to create something that lasts beyond the trip itself. This heartfelt reflection captures students’ dedication during their Community Action Project while illustrating the relationships they built with the people they served.

This blog demonstrates that the impact of Global Glimpse extends far beyond ten days. It shows that meaningful change is built through collaboration, compassion, and a willingness to contribute to something greater than ourselves. This reflection reminds us that the most meaningful part of the Community Action Project isn’t simply completing a task—it’s building relationships and contributing to a project that continues to benefit the local community long after students return home.

“Because of our combined amazing efforts, we finished the daily goal of 500 trees in only an hour and 30 minutes” – Ada, Grace, and Noemi, Leaders of the Day

A Farewell That Marks a New Beginning
ABYA YALA

Chitre, Panama / Chicago Delegation

Every Global Glimpse trip eventually comes to an end, but the lessons learned and friendships formed continue long after students return home. As the final featured blog in this collection, ABYA YALA reflects on the growth, gratitude, and unforgettable moments that defined the group’s experience in Panama.

Filled with personality, humor, and heartfelt reflection, the writers remind us that saying goodbye isn’t the end of the story—it’s the beginning of a new chapter. The confidence, global perspective, and lifelong connections students develop during Global Glimpse continue to shape who they become long after the journey is over.

“And with the closing of our 10-day trip to Panama, life-long best friends, the delicious pineapple juice, and countless memories from all our hard work… this isn’t the end, just the start of a new chapter.” – Angelika, Olivia, and Samuel, Leaders of the Day
