Hello Glimpsers! My name is Leona (she/they). I was born and raised in San Francisco and I currently teach high school life sciences. I love to observe the local flora and fauna of every place I visit!
I have visited northern regions (Alaska, Yellowknife, and Iceland) in hopes to see the aurora borealis, fulfilled a childhood dream of seeing Japan, and learned about the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Panama with students through Global Glimpse. This will be my 6th trip with Global Glimpse, and I am super excited to explore Turrialba with you!
I became a Global Glimpse Leader to help young people experience the world and understand the complexities of our ecosystems and communities. To create a sustainable future for humanity, we must first understand how the issues are interconnected. I embrace the concept of thinking globally and acting locally to change the world for the better.
Facts:
– I am a total geek who thinks we should do our best to get humanity toward the Star Trek future.
– I enjoy camping, developing survival skills, and rewilding the world.
– If you hold your hand up at arm’s length and fingers parallel to the horizon, the width of each finger indicates approximately 5 minutes of sunlight. (Ex: If the sun is 3 fingers’ width from the horizon, you have 15 minutes of sunlight left.)
