GGL Leona Wong Intro Post

Hello Glimpsers! My name is Leona (she/they). I was born and raised in San Francisco and I currently teach high school life sciences. I love to observe the local flora and fauna of every place I visit!

I have visited northern regions (Alaska, Yellowknife, and Iceland) in hopes to see the aurora borealis, fulfilled a childhood dream of seeing Japan, and learned about the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Panama with students through Global Glimpse. This will be my 6^th trip with Global Glimpse, and I am super excited to explore Turrialba with you!

I became a Global Glimpse Leader to help young people experience the world and understand the complexities of our ecosystems and communities. To create a sustainable future for humanity, we must first understand how the issues are interconnected. I embrace the concept of thinking globally and acting locally to change the world for the better.

Facts:
– I am a total geek who thinks we should do our best to get humanity toward the Star Trek future.
– I enjoy camping, developing survival skills, and rewilding the world.
– If you hold your hand up at arm’s length and fingers parallel to the horizon, the width of each finger indicates approximately 5 minutes of sunlight. (Ex: If the sun is 3 fingers’ width from the horizon, you have 15 minutes of sunlight left.)
