Today, we woke up at 7:00, and breakfast was served at 8:00. We had rice and beans, with scrambled eggs and ham, as well as plantains and our usual coffee and tea assortments. Following breakfast, we had some downtime to finish packing and cleaning the rooms, then met again at 9:00 to begin our reflection activities. We began by making a “Global Glimpse Reflection Map” and detailing things such as 5 key moments, an inspiration of this trip, something we learned about ourselves, and something that we learned about leadership. Then, we gathered into groups to share. The next activity was 3 poster papers titled “Start, Stop, and Continue”, and we walked around to each, each writing at least one response. Again, we shared in our whole group, something either we wrote or saw from someone else. Next, we gathered in the yard to play a game, anonymously tapping the shoulders of our peers, if they fit the criteria of the prompt. The prompts consisted of questions such as “Tap the shoulder of the glimpser who made you laugh” or “Tap the shoulder of the glimpser who represents the group as a whole”. Our final reflection activity was to write “Big Love” (your favorite thing about the person), on a sheet of paper for each person.
Next, we dropped our suitcases off by the bus and headed to meet for lunch. Today, for our final meal at the lodge, we had lasagna, with a side of salad and Tamarind juice. Following lunch, we gathered our final belongings, said goodbye to the lodge staff with a photo, and boarded the bus. The lodge staff was so sweet, and even prepared a banana bread snack for us to take on the journey back to San Jose. Most of us napped or looked out the window for the first hour, then deboarded the bus at the souvenir shop. We spent some time at the shop everyone gathering souvenirs for themselves, their families, and their friends. Once everyone purchased their items we all boarded the bus once more and were off to a hotel in San Jose.
Around an hour later the group arrived at the hotel. All of us were looking forward to dinner and the pool at the hotel afterwards during our free time! First, though, we took our suitcases from the bottom of the bus and went into the hotel lobby and we listened for our names and roomates before being handed the keys to our rooms. Once we received the keys, everyone headed to their rooms, claimed their beds and soon after got ready for our final dinner on this trip. We were told to head back down to the lobby at 5:45 to board the bus to head over to the restaurant.
In under 10 minutes we got to the restaurant and took our seats waiting for our food. Everyone was chatting with eachother and then we recieved our food and dessert which was brownies with ice cream or rice pudding (brownies with ice cream was definitely a fan favorite).
Once we finished eating our yummy food we took a group photo in front of the restaurant, and proceeded to board the bus back to the hotel. When we arrived we chnaged into swimwear and are about to go to the pool!
Thanks to everyone who has read and/or commented on these posts througout our journey!! We are so grateful <3 Signing out as your final leaders of the day, London and Jaslene!!
