Hello familias! Today is day 8 of our amazing trip to Costa Rica. We did lots of community service work in a different area..a RAINFOREST! Today’s leaders were Kamryn, Arely, and Christell.

We had an early morning start once again. Top of the morning, 5 AM all leaders woke up and prepared to wake up everyone else at 6:30. Thanks to our wonderful chef, Diego, we had another great meal of pancakes, eggs, fruits, guava juice, and iced tea at 7:30. After B-Fast, Fatima introduced the group to a new game called Quack. We played a few rounds and created super secret handshakes before heading downstairs to make our way to the ASADA where we worked today. Shoutout to the winners of that game, Julie, Angie, and Christell.

The commute from the house to ASADA was about 15-20 minutes by bus. During the bus ride to kill time, many of us had intriguing/amazing conversations and some of us played a game of mafia. We brought along with us racks, brushes, and buckets. After arrival, we met up with Carolina, Jorge, Oscar & Javier whom explained both our tasks and goals.

Today’s mental warmup game was Biggest Fan (rock, paper, scissors). After that competitive game, we were divided into 3 groups. One task was to scrub the post while the other was to tidy up the ASADA. We were surrounded by nature, bugs, and laughter. After rotating stations and working hard for 2 hours, we had a lunch break at the soccer field!

For lunch, Diego once again delivered lunch to the soccer fields. We even got a chance to taste fresh guava juice from the trees in the area; Diego really looks out for us. After having a lunch break and many naps, we traveled back to the ASADA to work some more. Powering through two more hours of scrubbing, cleaning, and avoiding bugs, we took pictures and left the site! Due to our amazing work, we left an hour earlier and got many praises from workers at the ASADA! #teamwork #thegrindneverstops
We arrived home around 3:30 and were given free time! Phone calls to our family members where we got to have meaningful conversations with our loved ones. After the phone calls we all got to finalize our letters of appreciation to our supporters of Global Glimpse. Finally it was dinner time and our leaders of the day brought everyone downstairs for dinner where we had rice, salad, chickpeas and chicken soup, with iced tea, watermelon, and strawberry refreshers. We all got to enjoy our meals and spend free time dancing around the living room with each other.

During the nightly meeting, our current leaders got the opportunity to pass down the torch to Sofia, Chris P., and Makayla. After the amazing talent show and reflection, we prepped for tomorrow’s activity. Here’s a hint: it deals with kids!
It was an honor to be leaders of the day. Today was filled with positivity, love, and joy. Thank you for reading our blog and we are extremely excited for tomorrow’s leaders to tell you all about our adventures. Stay safe and enjoy your day!
