Pura Vida! This is your day 7 LDD’s Lena, Talise and Lucia speaking.
We started our day off with some more Gallo Pinto, eggs, pancakes, and watermelon. After that, Talise led the group through an epic yoga session to warm us up for the long day ahead.

Our first activity of the day was the Cultural Exchange. We all headed down to the local school and brought crafts and games for a small group of the kids there. During the cultural exchange, we started by playing name games to get to know each other. After the first activity, it was clear that there was an apparent language barrier, but we didn’t let that stop us. However, we persevered through playing language games and drawing, which allowed us to share some of our culture with each other. After that, we made bracelets with the kids to further bond with them. To end off our time with them, we played some super fun games like Pato, Pato, Ganzo (duck, duck, goose) and Luz Verde y Luz Rojo (red light, green light).

Overall, this expereince showed us all that there are so many more ways to share culture and language than just speaking to eachother.
For lunch, we had a Costa Rican take on lasagna and salad. For every meal we have a different freshly squeezed juice! Today’s was a delightful limeade with a pinch of minced mint (MM, IYKYK).
After that, we took a trip to a local cheese producer. This farmer is particularly special because she makes sure that her process is completley sustainable and environmentally friendly. We learned about every little detail down to what grass she feeds her cows and why. Two people, Lena and Talia, even got to learn how to milk a cow. Throughout the tour we mixed learning with competetiveness by playing games about topics like production and trivia.

Learning about how small, sustainable farmers run their businesses while staying true to their ideals was very insightful. Our main take away from this tour was learning about how much consumerism actually affects our planet, and how every small contribution can help our ecosystem in big ways.
We closed the day off with a celebratory pizza dinner! Yay! We all sat at a last supper style table and spent the whole night chatting and laughing. It was the perfect way to end such a long and informative day.

Thanks for tuning in! Don’t forget to smile! *wink*
