Okay so boom!!! Your fearless leaders Maria, Lia, and Olivia are here and we started CAP Day one with a bang! So per usual we woke everyone up with some Disney songs ( from Lia’s wonderful MP3 player, thanks dad!) and Tony award winning dance moves. And in true school pride Lia wore her I❤️PPAS shirt. We made sure that everyone was out of their villas and on time for breakfast ( woop woop ). For breakfast we had salchichas, egg, pancakes, mangu, and an option of mashed potatoes as well as yogurt and some corn flakes. And then we loaded into the bus at 8:45 am, and headed over to our first house, which was unfortunately not available. So we moved on to our second house where we mixed and laid some concrete! We worked in five groups, where Lia and Maria kept track of time and Olivia kept track of groups. As a trio we made sure everyone was mentally and physically able to continue to work; we checked on everyone’s physical states, made sure each person was taking enough breaks and watch water intake, or as Maria says “HYDRATE OR DIEDRATE”. We worked in 15 minute intervals and we switched off between mixing concrete, putting concrete in buckets, and carrying buckets of concrete to the professional working inside the house. After working for approximately 3 hours we headed back to the villa for an absolutely banger lunch. We had fried chicken, yellow rice, tostones, cauliflower salad, green salad with strawberries, fruits and strawberry juice. We had a little bit of free time after lunch where we talked and had a good time before hopping back on the bus to work some more. We continued to work with the concrete and we did it so efficiently that we finished 2 hours early. We then came back to the villa and wrote letters to our generous global glimpse supporters. After writing our letters we had FREE TIME!!! Everybody did different things, I (Maria) played soccer/futbol which was so much fun! And others (such as Lia and Olivia) took naps, showers and talked in our villas with our roommates (twas I, Lia, I had a lovely time with my roomies chatting it up as I was doing laundry).
Then we all skedaddled up to the dining room to eat some nachos, cheese quesadillas, chicken and cheese quesadillas, and some lovely cheese-less quesadillas for Maria and Sean Michael who are lactose intolerant. Then of course, we began nightly meeting with a little service (led by Olivia) because a couple were missing church. Of course like church there were many people who were brought to tears. (Lia is now also considering attending church as long as it is always lead by the incredible Olivia). Overall, it was such a lovely first day of CAP! Everyone is such hard workers and so enthusiastic to complete the work for today. We worked as such a great team I started thinking that we are all an ant colony (Lia). We are so grateful to have such a lovely group and cannot wait to continue working tomorrow!
PSA, students will be calling home to their families at around 5:30pm, so please keep your phones handy and watch out for calls!

Hi mom and dad!!! I am having a great time but believe it or not I do miss you guys. I am seeing a bunch of roosters and it makes me think of home. Doing the manual labor is really fun. It really reminds me of camp which is a little bittersweet but it’s all worth it. Coco and Washington if you are reading this I am also thinking of you. To Elmo c y’all are fake if the only thing you comment is patuna but I still enjoy you I guess. Lots of love to all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
-Maria😘
