Hey family and friends!
Today was day 6: Sustainable Development Day, which me (Helen) and Dylan were leaders of the day!!!! As usual, we woke everyone up at 7AM, knocked on their doors and waited for a response to make sure they were actually awake, and once they came to open the door we had music playing for each of them! Everyone was out their doors and packed on time for once to go to breakfast but unfortunately, the chefs were the ones that were late to serve breakfast, so the whole schedule was pushed back. However, even through there were delays and changes in schedule timing, everyone was able to push through and adapt to the challenges! After leaving the hotel and heading back to the Villa, we also happened to make a pit stop at the gas station, where everyone who had to use the restroom did or just wanted to buy snacks got to do just that. Buying different Dominican snacks was one thing that made everyone days. Once we arrived back at the Villa, we had lunch, and then we went back to our own Villas to unpack. We then came to the meeting room for the guest speaker, Bernardo, the founder of our partner company hosting our upcoming CAP project days, (woohoo!) to speak to us about his work on helping low income communities, building houses for them with his volunteers, which will be what we’re going to do for the next three CAP days!

Afterwards, it seemed like everyone was tired after the bus ride so we got a spare hour to relax or have fun, before coming back to the meeting room to plan for CAP! After planning for CAP, we had dinner, which was beef burgers with fries, which was a little funny because burgers were one of the dinner options at the hotel yesterday. Of course, nightly meeting afterwards as usual, and our next day’s GGLs will be Olivia, Lia, and Mariah!!

We were all blown away by their talents, especially Olivia’s singing! Absolutely beautiful. Stay tuned for Day 7: CAP Day 1’s blog next! :).

Things are pretty calm at home, but I’m excited to see how PPAS handles running the day—probably more singing. Love you, Marly! Love, Mom
