Hello! This is your Day 6 LLDs Eleanor Graham and Petra Battarbee!
This morning our breakfast included tostada, pinto de gallo, huevos, plantains y orange jugo.
Before desyauno today we (LLDS) set up some decorations for Ximena since it was her birthday today! We blew up a ton of balloons and set out a card that everyone had signed previously. After singing happy birthday it set a good mood for the rest of the day. After breakfast we had a mental warm up which consisted of a game of Simon Says-stretching addition-to prepare us for a long day of activities. And guess what, today was finally laundry day!! The two lower cabins got to drop off some of their smelly clothing so that was an amazing plus for today! Then we prepared for our second day of working on the bus stops. We gathered our painting supplies and split into two groups. Petra led Group 1 with Dianna while Eleanor carried Group 2 with Julio. The weather was warm and sunny today, which definetly helped with everyones positive attitude throughout the day. In total we painted 6 bus stops today! Not every last part was completed so we will be heading back Friday morning to finish the bits and pieces.
With Group 1, we painted 2 bus stops, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These bus stops required lots of paint(we went through almost 2 buckets) and perseverance as well as cooperation within the group. Dianna played upbeat songs with a speaker which helped the group keep going as the bus stops we painted has lots of tricky bits like reaching high places with a ladder and having to be super precise with the metal and plywood needing diffrent paints and being on top of each other. I believe that the group worked super well together and we had fun painting the bus stop. The result of seeing it fresh and new was super satisfying. Walking back to the base house for lunch, we did mini big love. This was where people told eachother what they thought they did good on that day. I did this as we were walking back to lunch to recongize the hard work people had put in for the bus stops and put people in a positive mood after working for 3 hours in hot weather. -Petra
For Group Dos, we painted 4 bus stops, 2 en el manana and 2 in the afternoon. We got lucky with our stops because there wasn’t as much surface area to paint; mainly the bench and pole portions. Uno tricky thing we overcame today was being able to reach the tall parts of the bench. I (Eleanor) was able to reach the sides by going on my tippy toes, and Julio stood on the bucket to get into some of the crevices. Others got creative, Talise hopped onto Zachs back and was able to get the very top! It was hard not to drip paint on the ground but we made it work. After painting the first layer we would take a community sip of water and got a snack. This was personally my favorito because the snack options are always an assortment of cookies, brands from Costa Rica that I’ve never tried, so its fun to share with friends so you get to taste them all. One of the best parts of working on our CAP project is the vibes and music during the day! Our leaders always bring along a speaker so people can queue their favorite songs, I personally mucho love this because my music reminds me of home. Its also a great way to raise peoples energy and make it a more positive working environment. We all worked really cohesively today and got lots ton in a short amount of time, its really good when the whole group feels accomplished at the end. All the work was worth it because the bus stops look super neat and clean! – Eleanor Graham

Due to our GGLs being on a break today we don’t have too many photos of our other groups unfortunately.
Para almurezo dias, tenemos papas, ensalada, y pollo con arroz. Free time around 4:00PM was very chill since the clouds began to roll in and everyone was very tired from all the painting and hot weather today. A few of us played with some of the kids on the grass, soccer and the swing set is super popular during down time. Later in the afternoon we worked on writing letters to some of the supporters that make Global Glimpse and this trip possible! Por cena, we had ensalada, arroz and carne de salsa. We suprised Ximena with birthday cake after dinner and everyone got to taste the fantastic cake the chefs made. After dinner we had our nightly meeting where we talked about the day, shared some of our “Big loves” just good moments that happened through out the day and switched leaders!
