Buenas, somos sus Lideres del Dia Ximena B. y Sheryln. Day 4 was filled with fun adventures in the city!
We started our day with a typical Costa Rican breakfast which included eggs, gallo pinto, sausage in sauce, plantains, papaya, pineapple, and garlic bread. We also had the choices of coffee, orange juice, or water to accompany our meal. After, we prepared for our cultural exchange by creating and sharing ideas with each other. This included movement, language, and artistic activities for children in Costa Rica.
We then got on a bus and headed to the city of Turrialba. Once we got there we all exchanged money so we could have fun visiting shops and buying food. We visited a second-hand clothing shop, where we all helped eachother buy some new clothes.

After spending a lot of energy trying on clothes and looking through racks, we needed something to cool us down in the growing heat. So, we headed to an ice cream shop where we all got a cone, a cup, or a milkshake thanks to our GGL Leona! Once we finished our sweet treat, we headed to visit a popular bakery in Turrialba. This helped us understand what it is like to live here in Costa Rica, and what the community is like!

To continue our exciting day we headed back to our base house and had some well deserved lunch, which included chicken in rice, refried beans, beets, and salad. To cure our thirst, we had some watermelon and pineapple juice.
After lunch we had some free time where we played games or rested. We then gathered up to discuss our Community Action Project plans. We got into groups where each groups brainstormed ideas for various components of this important project. This involves the resources, steps, and the distribution of tasks. This helped us prepare a clear path to serving the community of San Rafael.

We then got to the most anticipated part of the day, the time where we were able to call home! This was an emotional time because we started to miss home. Following this, we ate a delicious dinner which consisted of fried fish, steamed, veggies, rice, mashed potatoes, and pineapple+papaya juice. We ended our night with a fun movie night, where we watched Jurassic Park with a side of popcorn.
This day helped us grow closer and learn more about life, fun, and adventures! We are excited for what is to come during our stay in Costa Rica. Tune in for more tomorrow!- Ximena B. and Sherlyn.
