Day 1

We arrived! Our first day in Costa Rica was full of travel, but we finally made it to Turrialba. After we got off the plane, we traveled through immigraton with no problems, and then everyone said goodbye to their phones! We first had a delicious lunch with some peacocks to keep us company, and then we were back on the bus for the next leg of our trip. As we drove through San Jose, most of the bus took a quick snooze after the meal. We stopped to stretch our legs and take a short bathroom break, and proceeded through the picturesque mountains through sun, mist and rain.

The energy on the bus was lively, the front of the bus quizzing themselves on how many countries they could name and the back providing some acapella. We saw horses, cows, goats, enjoying the mountainside, and learned that the province we were in is known for their plentiful potato farms. As we arrived near the accommodation, we got cozy as we swapped to a minibus for the final few mintues of travel. As we stepped off of the bus, a tropical downpour welcomed us to Vista Turrialba, and we made phone calls home. We had another delicious meal and went over house rules and tomorrows itinerary. A long day of travel left many of us exhausted and ready for bed, but excited for whats to come.

p.s. many of us experienced a big shock at the size and amount of bugs! We brought bug spray but also have to learn to coexist. Wish us luck!
