Cultural Exchange and Cheese Farm

Today, we woke up at 6:30 AM and had breakfast at 7:30. On the plate we had chicken and ham sandwiches and a very yummy fruit platter which contained: apples, pineapple, and watermelon.

We then made our way to the Santa Rosa school. All of us had prepared many activites for local kids in different groups days beforehand. To start with, Ava and I (Matt) did a presentation on who we are as Global Glimpse, and we did icebreakers for the kids. Following our presentation, different groups did a drawing activity with the kids and played many games with them such as charades, dodgeball, and duck duck goose. Overall, it was an amazing experience with the kids. Being able to teach them new words in english such as stomach and nose during Simon Says was wonderful.

Our lunch period followed our visit at the school. On the plate for lunch their was chicken and rice and a potato and beet salad. We had a nice rest period after lunch.

Next up was the cheese farm. Our cheese farm tour consisted of Tyra and London milking the cows, and Summer plus Jaslene making homemade Turrialba cheese. We also learned about sustainable farming in Costa Rica. Overall, it was a very cool experience learning about how the famous Turrialba cheese is made.

For dinner it was a throwback to our home. We had a massive pizza dinner at a pizza place in town. It was very yummy, the 4 cheese pizza and the margrita pizza were giant hits.

To finish our night we had a July 4th Bonfire. We roasted marshmallows and ate them sandwiched between two cookies. However, I think many of us were missing fireworks and grilling back home. I hope everyone had a fantasic July 4th back home and spent it with family!!!!!

We love reading your comments keep them coming. Your leaders of the day, Matt and Ava

Sounds like you all had loads of fun with the local kids at school, from teaching them English words to milking cows and making cheese. The bong fire looked cool. Spending time with local children, making cheese from cow’s milk, having a fantastic dinner, and making and eating s’mores over a happy campfire… I could see from your faces that it was all a happy time.
I was happy to see them getting healthier and more comfortable with each other.
I hope that all of your experiences and conversations in Costa Rica will become valuable assets when you return to your own lives.
Thank you all for your hard work

And Hyomin!!
I love you so much I can’t say it…
Your brother Jamin misses you so much.

Looks like a really great day, way to lead Matt and Ava. Love the photo of London about to milk the cow, and seeing you all with the smiling kids at the school. That sounds like a lot of fun. Duck duck goose and dodgeball — ha ha! The pizza dinner, marshmallow cookie dessert sounds like a great evening. Turrialba cheese sounds amazing, wish I could try some!

Hey London! I have loved reading about your adventure and seeing pictures. You bottle fed a baby bull with Papa when you were little, so it made me smile seeing your picture milking a cow. Full circle, I guess 😊 counting the days until you come to Knoxville! Love you Precious
