CAP Day three

Today we had a wake up call at 6:30 since it was a CAP day. We had a delicious beakfast at 7:30, everyone got to enjoy pancakes with banana bread! (P.S we also got to try the cheese Summer and Jaslene made yesterday which was delicious)

At 8:45 we left for the Asada building to arrive at 9:00 where we cleaned practically everything (LOL). We assigned different groups to our different leaders of the day (Araf, Olivia, and Jacob). Our first session was from 9:00-12:00 where we cleaned the tanks, the stairs, and the floors. Araf and Jacob’s crew were assigned the floors and tanks where we alternated roles, while Olivia’s crew was assigned to the stairs. After our first session ended we had an amazing lunch which included rice, beans, casado (chicken with peppers and onions), picadillo (ground beef with carots and onion), coleslaw, and sugar cane water with lemon (this was a favorite lunch!) Our second session was a bit shorter as we ended up finishing early! Unfortunately we didnt have enough time to paint the building but we all put in great work finshing cleaning.

In our second session it was a bit shorter as our groups had finished cleaning most of the place. Araf’s group was tasked with cleaning the stairs on the first level of the ASADA building. Olivia’s groups’ task got switched to cleaning the last two tanks as well as the floor on the top level. Jacob’s group got tasked with cleaning the floor of the middle level. We finished 20 minutes early at 2:40, and some of us made a last pulpería stop to our favorite local store. We were told that the owner of the store was even very sad to hear that we were going to leave because out of all of the delegations shes been through, our group has been the most engaging with her–having actual conversations with her and saying hi and bye. We returned back to our lodge at around 3:30 where we relaxed till phone calls started being made at around 4:30 and lasted until about 6:15. Dinner started at 6:00 where we enjoyed rice with fish or chicken, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. We also had tamarind juice which was not everyone’s favorite :(, but the dinner was absolutely scrumptious. After dinner we recaped our experiences with CAP (our Community Action Project) and how this experience has truly shaped us as people and as leaders.

We have all met and fostered relationships with new people (and animals haha) that will be deeply rooted into our memories. Thank you to Global Glimpse and most importantly our parents for giving us this opportunity to take with us for the rest of our lives. From your leaders: Araf, Olivia, and Jacob.
