Today in Panama we got to go on a field trip to a farm called Capri Dovi, and in the afternoon we had a guest speaker named Joseph show us the inside scoop of how traditional Panamanian shoes are made. We woke up and had a great breakfast and then went straight to the farm. Diomedes, the owner of the farm, spoke briefly about the farm and took us on a tour where we got to try different fruits and vegetables straight from the vine. Afterwards, we got to meet little baby bunnies and ride a horse named Shakira, who was so so, so sweet and lovely. We also got to feed and play with some big goats and ADORABLE baby goats, and later on even help one. Everyone loved playing with the animals. Once we were done, we sat down and listened to Diomedes explain how his farm’s goat cheese is created, and some of our Glimpsers even got a chance to make the cheese. After this some of us tried the pineapple cheese and regular cheese. We gave us got to try delicious honey and even buy larger bottles to bring back home! Once we got back to the hotel, we ate a delicious lunch, had free time, and got ready for our guest speaker. At 4, Joseph arrived to tell us about his family’s traditional Panamanian shoe business, and we got a live demonstration of him making a pair! After this, we wrote letters of appreciation to supporters of the Global Glimpse program and then headed to dinner. All in all, it was a really fun day, and the baby animals were definitely the best part. We’re all ready for tomorrow!
Líder Del Día Reflections
Chichi: Today as a leader of the day I got to experience the life of being a leader. Something I learned was how to milk a GOAT it was so weird but I’m glad I got to experience it because again I will never be a 17 year old in Panama again so I took my chances with milking the goat. I hope that my group had a great time at the farm just as much as I did. I saw everyone connecting with the different animals and how we all were just connecting as a big group and being able to share this special fun experience with each other. I also had a lot of fun learning about how the Panamanian Sandals were made. It was so cool to see how it came together so quickly. I really did enjoy being todays leader of the day and I’m very happy that group was very well prepared with questions and we’re all petting and interesting with all the animals.
Ramaa: Being leader of the day was a really valuable experience. I got to work on my confidence and on taking charge, which is something both my parents and I were looking forward to me doing before I even came on the trip. I had so much fun on the farm today, and I’m glad everyone else did too. In general, I’m really having a lot of fun on this trip with all of the amazing people and the things we’ve been doing. While some aspects of the living here or working so much may be challenging, I definitely believe they’re helping me grow as a person. Thank you so much to my parents for making it possible for me to be here! Also directly to Mumma, Papa, and Golu: I love you so much and I can’t wait to see you and tell you all about my experience!
