Final Day in d.r! waterfall, bonfire, dinner and so much love<3
Student Trip Blog
Rising early at 7 in the morning, the group got ready to start the long, ecstatic day that awaited the bunch! We then had a very delicious breakeast that included eggs, salami, fried cheese, and baked sweet plantain, that we all ate before heading out on 2 of our “party buses” to work on our long anticipated CAP Day 1 at our designated school.
Before getting to the school on our CAP Day 1 morning session, setting up a colored pencil picket fense and working on a sustainable school garden, we met with Victor, a representative of Plan Yaque and talked about our plan!
DJ David, Luca (a german intern), and Victor helped push half the students throughout the process of breaking down the soil with pickaxes, (yes we did that! PC Pedro adds emphazises that we followed the respective safety protocols) and setting up 9 rows for the students to use in order to plant fruits and vegetables for the next school year. Meanwhile, half of the other group got really busy sanding down pieces of wood (it was actually really fun. The group listened to music and talked to each other).
We, then, headed to the Rancho in order to have some spectacular food cooked by our very own cooks, who we consider our 2nd moms here in the Rancho. We had some delicious chicken and rice that was SO GOOD! Immediately after we had to head back to the school where we would finish the remaining tasks of the day.
Once we arrived to the school again, we were greeted by the school´s principal that was very enthusiastic about the 3 day plan to improve the community of the school. At first the group was tasked with sanding and painting colored pencil picket fences! It was a very great idea and many students had a blast, but of course the gardening group was not ready to give up! Once given the green light to continue, the group led by DJ David headed back and started putting the compost on the rows and improving the structure of the rows. Although tired, both groups were able to get a TREMENDOUS amount of work done! BUT, before heading back to the Rancho the group decided to splurge on the delicious snacks that we all have enjoyed so far!
Finally we returned and talked about the day, including two of our fellow Global Glimpsers that were gone. However, we all loved hearing updates on both (Isis we all miss you!) and Daniel we were all joyously awaiting your return (the gardening master!). With some break time right after!
Then, we had dinner at the Rancho, where we enjoyed some delicious hotdogs with tea or handmade passionfruit juice! Additionally, we had our nigthly meeting, where we reflected on the day and introduced tomorrow´s leaders which we can´t wait to see!
Finally, we had another great free time, where the group had a blast at the pool with some of our very own songs! We look forward to a great Cap Day 2!

It was so important to me to thank anyone and everyone as i felt so lucky to even be in their presence. My energy and positivity is what I wanted to leave you guys with in grateful to have done just that. Our reflections meant a lot to me and i will carry them with me everywhere I go. You humbled me and check me in ways I would normally hate but i knew it was for my greater good so i appreciated it wholeheartedly. Thank you for seeing me and the pure intentions I had for those around me. Your words cut deep and I tried to lead with my heart thank you for seeing that. The mark I left with thoese communities was the priority of my trip. Arleen you so beautiful truly there are so many more conversations I wanted to have with you. To know you is to respect you you’re so so funny. It breaks my heart to see you cry I wish I could wrap you in my arms and tell you you are strong you are important and you are so loved. Let people in more you are truly so amazing and i’m thankful you let me in I will forever cherish. Continue to be you unapologetically I will love you forever. Speak more I loved every time you made a joke. Your heart is as beautiful as your face. I can’t wait to make more memories with you. ps you never have to worry about our private conversations i will carry them to the grave. If you ever need to talk I will always be here for you! I knew we were gonna be great friends on zoom we talked a lot and were curious my kindred spirit fr. I have so much respect and admiration for you and hope to be more like you. Saying good morning was my highlight I loved having personal and different conversations with each of you. I do need to stop apologizing 😭😭 i’ll work on that. I love you sm thank you for being you ardis. I love allll of youuu. At the beach it was a joy to ask you personal question and i remember exactly what you’re talking about. Stay true to the response you gave me they are valid. I just got a call from you guys while writing this I started bawling I miss you guys so much thank you for calling me it meant the world.
