Hi everyone! This is Lelina & David and we were the LDD’s for the day. We are so excited to inform you about our day! Today, we were able to stick to our original plan, and go hike and see the waterfall. The alternative plan was to attend a museum, and then go to a bakery and marketplace nearby. Since it was the alternative plan, it would have caused us to mainly stay inside the majority of the time instead of experiencing the nature and take in the scenery we would have originally been promised. we all hiked to the Las Trizallas Waterfall and took in a lot of greenery and scenery. Although, we were not able to swim in the waterfall, we were able to dip our feet in and managed to have a lot of fun together. After viewing the waterfall we hiked back up to the Las Trizallas restaurant and ate lunch before heading back to the base house for free time. Today at 2:30 pm we had a wonderful time with our guest speaker Andrés “Fofo” Zúñiga a native of Turrialba. Fofo holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Management and ecotourism. Also he works as Director of Operations at verto education, along with his passion being surrounded by nature and his family. We also did an activity that was interactive and caused us to learn and engage more. We were split up into 3 groups, (Community, government, and contractors) each groups assignment was to create an argument for said purpose. In the end the government allowed the contractors proposal with certain conditions. Overall, we learned so much from our guest speaker, and got a lot of knowledge of not only Costa Rica, but the US and other nations.

At 8pm we also had a karaoke night. There were so many songs that were sung, such as ‘Come and Get Your love,’ ‘Fein,’ ‘Valerie,’ ‘SI SUPIERAS,’ and so much more. Not only did most of us glimpsers participate in karaoke night, but the GGL’s did, too. All of us had so much fun, whether it was singing seriously, or just for fun and giggles. The experience caused all of us to bond over songs and create connections over shared music tastes. Karaoke night was filled with memories, smiles, laughs, and vocals. This night was the most active night by far on this trip wether it was karaoke or playing pool there almost wasn’t a moment where everyone wasn’t interacting with one another. Tonight people got to come out of their comfort zones and sing in front of an audience. After every song more people put their names on the list repeatedly to sing.

Lelina: Today was awesome! I enjoyed hiking and eating lunch with everyone at the waterfall, and taking in the sights and the scenery. I also enjoyed what our guest speaker offered us today, as he enlightened us with a lot of knowledge regarding not just Costa Rica, but other nations and helpful information as well. We even did an interactive activity that required all of us to be split up in groups and work out real life problems and figure out solutions. Lastly, we ended the night off with karaoke. I sang songs with a few other glimpsers, and even one of my GGL’s (David). I felt like today was very insightful, fun, and filled with so many new fun experiences and connections.
David: Today was my favorite day by far. I loved the hike to and back from the waterfall and i couldn’t stop finding new places to take pictures of the waterfall. The lunch at the restaurant was also amazing and i enjoyed the arroz con leche. dinner was also one of the best dishes i had. Seeing everyone sing at karaoke night was also amazing and i really enjoyed today.
