Que lo que !!!!!

Today we started off our beautiful day by having breakfast by the sea. We ate smashed plantains (Mangu), fried cheese, salami, pancakes, fruit, as well some fresh coffee, then we made our way (a three hour bus ride) to Rancho Ruisenior. We had some lunch which was white rice with beans, also chicken and salad and tostones (fried plantains) fruit too!!!

Our group went to the Escuela para Sordos, where we learned Sign Language and the challenged deaf people face in the DR. However, this school is making a difference by spreading awareness and offering core subject courses in sign language. We had a triple translation, with PC Pedro and Ms. Angelica translating from Spanish to DSL (Dominican Sign Language) and English. We learned that only 7 students attended though they do wish to expand to give more children the opportunity to receive education not only in sign language but in other things such the computer lab as well as offer services to the whole community.

We then came from the School for the Deaf to Rancho Ruisenior where we played telephone and we started with our secret phrase which was “Jake hates jasmine 10 times more” and then we ended up with “Santiago has a big butt” and we all found it super funnyyyyyy!!!!!

Then we started to work on our draft for the CAP project. We decided and divided the work and now have our questions ready for tomorrow to make sure we are as efficient and informed as possible. We drafted up our plans/outlines in two separate groups, then we came back together as one to build the master plan.

Then we had dinner which was Mashed potatoes and fried salami and cheese. We wrapped up the day with our nightly meeting and introducing our new leaders. We capped the day with our Unity Clap word: SIGN LANGUAGE!
Nos vemos manana!
