Hola everyone!

Yet another day in paradise! We got to sleep in this morning, woke up at 6:30 am! This morning we had breakfast, served by THE amazing Elka and Leonela! Today we had a traditional American breakfast: pancakes and eggs with a side of fruit. As soon as breakfast was over, we had our health check up and then headed out to the turtle conservation seminar.

At the seminar, Robert Shahverdians of Tortugas Pedasi taught us about the different types of sea turtles and the threats that they are facing. We learned about the steps the organization wants to take into creating less threats for the turtle population. Fun fact: Mexico has the largest diverse population of turtles, with Panama being a close second.

We then picked up the beach, where we found tires, a rubber bucket, wires, plastics, and so much Styrofoam. All of the micro plastics that these materials produced could have endangered so many different animals, so we were glad to lend them a hand.
Then, we wrapped up the day with another delicious dinner of fish, fries and rice – we can always count on rice. Clean plates all around!
Tune in tomorrow for more fun from Las Tablas!
