The Sunset

Hello! It’s your final Liders del Dia, Xander and Eric.

Today was a short but memorable day, it started off like any normal day. For breakfast we had pancakes, omelettes, yuca, and platanos. It was so yummy in my tummy. After breakfast, we had our last seminar of the 10-day experience. Rather than our GGLs and PCs leading, the Glimpsers took charge and excelled at it. We did the introduciton to the activity and Karen gave a wonderful speech about how even though we will be leaving this experience, we will still have the memories and connections to bring along with us. Karen detailed how our connections to eachother grew over time even with the ups and downs that we faced along the way. Everyone was able to overcome the challenges that we faced.

For the next portion of the seminar, Sofia, Ariel and Danna led an activity called Start, Stop, Continue. This activity was about how Global Glimpse affected everyones lives. We all wrote down things that we want to start doing when we return home, things that we want to stop doing, and things that we want to continue to do. Everyone had different answers, but a common theme was that people had a strong desire to help out their local communities, whether that be by helping out kids in schools or family owned businesses.

For the next activity, we played a game where people could show love and appreciation anonymously. A select group of people sat in a circle with their eyes closed and the rest of the group would go around the circle and tap the shoulders of those that the prompt applied to. For example, a GGL or PC would say “Someone who makes you laugh,” and the people going around would tap someones shoulder if it is true.

Eventually, lunch rolled around! For our last meal at Hotel La Esperanza, we had stew chicken, rice, and lentils with lemonade. It was also yummalicious!!! After that amazing luxurious, fabulous meal, it was time to say goodbye to our favorite staff members, Lauris, Janet, and Ashley. It was a very heartfelt moment. As they say, the quickest way to ones heart is through the stomach and they definitely made it there. Hotel La Esperanza will hold a special place in all the Glimpsers hearts because of all of the memories we made here. From playing Mafia on the balcony, Uno at the dinner table, or saying goodbye to our friends.

After our goodbyes, we hopped on our new bus and started the long journey back to where it all began, from Chitre to Panama City.

P.S. I will miss Ashley so much!!!!!!!!!!!! She was so kind to me and always gave me seconds of the food and so sweet!!! and sweet!!!! dulce!!!!! – Xander

P.P.S Listen to this song! This whole trip felt like it!!! “Litoral” – Toco – Xander
