TA1 Ready!

Hello Global Glimpsers and Families!

My name is Hong Ha Hoang, and I am one of your Global Glimpse Leaders (GGLs). I am SUPER excited to meet you all and can’t wait to get to know you, travel alongside you, and see how much you grow throughout this experience!

This will be my fourth trip with Global Glimpse! When I first heard about Global Glimpse, I wanted to join because I love traveling and experiencing new places. I have traveled to 34 countries, and travel has always been one of the ways I learn more about the world and myself. However, the more I learned about Global Glimpse, the more I realized how deeply the program aligns with my values as an educator.

Global Glimpse brings students from different high schools together to travel with teachers during the summer after their junior year. During our time abroad, we’ll explore history, culture, politics, poverty, education, development, and business in a developing country. I think it is incredible that this program challenges students to think critically, collaborate with one another, step outside of their comfort zones, and bring their new perspectives back to their schools and communities.

In the past, I’ve traveled to the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Costa Rica with Global Glimpse, and I am so excited for another meaningful journey this year. Each trip has taught me something different, and I always come home inspired by the students, the communities we visit, and the stories we are trusted to hear.

Aside from traveling, I love camping, escape rooms, video games, bowling, and event planning. I also have a Mini Goldendoodle named Baylee, who I love very much. By day, I’m the Activities Director and Leadership Teacher at Andrew P. Hill High School, where I get to work with students on leadership, school culture, and community-building. I’m looking forward to bringing back everything I learn from this trip and sharing it with my students.

Most of all, I hope you all learn from the people we meet, build meaningful friendships with one another, and grow as leaders throughout this journey.
