Sustainable Development in agriculture

Helloooooo from the Global Glimpse group. It has been yet another day in Panama and we know how much you all miss us. Although you are in our hearts and minds, we are so grateful for the time away since we are using it to learn about the everyday lives in Panama. Today we learned more about sustainable development and the everyday lives of farmers

As usual, the students started their day with the wakeup call and breakfast. Afterwards the real learning began. Sandra, an environmental conservationist, and executive director of a non-profit called Pro Eco Azuero, informed us students on the challenges she faced in the beginning of her nonprofit journey. Such advances in urbanization caused more and more land to be cleared for concrete and pastures. With this token into consideration, we Glimpsers, and our GGLs are contemplating methods on efficiency so we can ensure a successful reforestation. In short, this day was exemplar of problem solving, sustainability and sightseeing.

Today was a bit cloudy but it did not keep us in. We went to MERCA Chitre which is an inside farmers market with everything one person could need. There is an abundance of fresh produce from fresh fruits and recently harvested fish. Although they have an abundance of shops and restaurants, they also have a place for artisans to sell all different types of crafts. I (Abby) personally bought the goat milk ice cream which was surprisingly delicious, others bought a few hand crafted jewelry and some also bought some souvenirs for you all back home, yes you might want to know what it is but I’m not tellinggggggg ;).

After the Market, we all had some fun at the nearby McDonald’s. Did you guys know that they have Ronald Mc Donald’s meet and greet for kids? I would honestly be terrified if I went to one of those. Although it was a quick bite to hold us off until dinner, it was fun to just sit and laugh with peers.

We got to see all of your blog comments and we thank you dearly for all the love, we all just start cheezing and smiling every time we get to hear from you all.

Thank you for reading our blog- Abby & Samantha
