Sustainable Development Day

Hey from Panama!

Today we began developing our CAP (Community Action Project) at Escuela Las Cablas! For the next 3 days, we will be painting educational murals within the classrooms (pictured at the end). This morning we officially met the students and teachers of the school. During our time there, we discovered the needs of each grade and better informed ourselves before creating the plans for each mural.

Seeing how happy each student was in regards to school subjects suprised us and the other glimpsers. This joy and optimism inspired the group to come together and put all of our effort toward designing the best murals possible. We even spent double the time allotted to develop each creation. To finish out today, us and tomorrow’s Leaders of the Day (LDDs) went out to find the paint and brushes for the days ahead.

We enjoyed leading our fellow glimpsers through yesterday’s lights out until passing the torch earlier tonight. Thoughout the day we learned to step out of our comfort zones and hope we all continue to do so throughout this week and beyond!

Don’t forget to look at the mural designs below! In the first picture you can see written in red what the teachers requested from us. In blue you can see who choose to work which grade and the mural design they will complete by the end of our 3 days. We are all exited to get started!

Buenas noches from

Devan, Vanessa R, and Chris!
