Today’s theme was sustainability and development brought to you by our leaders of the day, Lucia and Marguerite. The leaders of day start their duties the night before after earning the torch during a talent presentation. They presented the next day’s itinerary neatly and clearly on a whiteboard with a beautiful drawing. They would like to add that One Piece is not mid at all.
Our activity of the day was to visit the organization we will work with tomorrow for our CAP (Community Action Project). The organization is called Pro Eco Azuero, and we listened to a presentation by the executive director Sandra, who taught us about the reforestation efforts in the Azuero Peninsula, specifically the Los Santos Province. The Azuero Peninsula is part of the dry corridor of Central America, and one of the only places with tropical dry forests- one of the rarests biomes in the world. Pro Eco Azuero creates community groups to collect seeds, grow plants, educate others, and plant trees. At the central office, they have a nursery that produces over a thousand saplings. These community groups are mostly paid and increase the economic growth of the area. Their overarching goal is resilience of both the community and nature against the effects of climate change.

After we came back to the hotel, we had a lot of bonding time, playing “Hello Stranger” brought by Grace and calling our families. It was super fun and we definitely grew even closer than before <33333
