Sun’s out, fun’s out!

Our glimpsers started the day off strong with a delicious meal made by our dear friend Diego, featuring perfectly poached eggs, fresh fruit, and gallo pinto (rice and beans…of course!)

After our meal, we ran for our swim trunks, sunscreens, and towels: prepping for a visit to Las Trillizas Waterfall! Brandishing our bamboo sticks, we trekked through the muddy jungle–fighting through giggles and screams–where we finally reached the falls!

Our brave, kind, generous, and beautiful leaders were the first to jump into the cold falls (Sanaa and Tati in case you couldn’t guess), showing a shivering but fun example for the group. Jumping from branches, flashing cameras, and the shouting of “Queen Natasha, take a photo of us!” Were the sure fire signs of an awesome fun day!

Bouncing from waterfall to waterfall, our glimpsers have stories and views that will last us all a lifetime. Traveling through secret passages and trails, we reached a secret 2nd waterfall (we would’ve preferred L7 waterfalls but whatever). After our hours of peace, harmony, and renewal (at least that’s what it felt like) we washed off our dirty and began our trek back up the mountain. To end it all off with a scrumptious post-waterfall meal.

Once we arrived back at the villa (home base), we spoke with the a legendary guest speaker! Fofo spoke to us about environmental justice, the impact of tourism on the environment, and the importance of community voice and power. With a quick debate, it has been officially decided: to be in a community is an everlasting fight for recognition and representation, but it will be a fight filled with pride, love, and passion.

Big loves to the outside world:

Dear baba: thinking of you everytime I wear my band shirts, smell coffee, drink my water, wear my ugly clothes, use the wrong shoes, play Cowbeanz, or tell a joke…and also everytime I breathe…

Dear Leo’s mom: please send the blog to anzu, miss you
