Save The Turtles

For today the leader of the day was Jayden, Alicia, and Victory. We woke up today at 6:45am, followed by breakfast at 7:30am which included eggs, sausages, empanadas, fruit, and tamrind juice. Then we had our mental health warm up which explained the importance of turtle conservation and reforestation in Panama and its impacts. Then we took a 2 hour trip to Playa Venao to meet Alexandra and Eliss who work within the save the turtles organization in Panama. They explained to the global glimpse group the tasks that they will be doing in the future such as cleaning the office, cleaning the nursery for baby turtles, and creating a wall infront of the nursery to protect the nursery against the crashing waves.

We were then pleasently suprised by some monkeys hanging in the trees. They were eating lemoncillos (ginips) and then dropped them on the floor, some even hit our heads!

By the time we made it back to the hotel we had lunch at 1:00pm which included meatballs with rice and salad. Afterward we had to discuss the plan for our upcoming project SAVE THE TURTLES! First we had to select groups and decide a rotation with given breaks. The process was difficult but we persevered and came up with a plan that everyone agreed with.

After a hardworking conversation we took a trip to a bakery and purchased many sweets and treats that were shared among the group. The group agreed that the dessert was very sweet and tasty. Although the matcha was underwhelming, the milkshakes and passion fruit made up for it.

Before we went back to the hotel we got a few souveneirs from the dollar store. We ended off the day with dinner which included mashed potatoes, yellow rice, and beef steak. Afterward we had the nightly meeting, discussed our question of the day, and officially passed the torch to the next leaders, Wyeth, Paola, and Jose. We then made our big loves and ended with our usual unity clap.

Hey Mom and Robert! I miss you guys a lot and especially the dog. I cant wait to go back home to see you guys and pet him too. I hope you guys are doing well and are surviving the heat wave. Im having lots of fun here and will share all of my experiences when I come back. Take care of yourselves!

Hey Mom! I had a great day today being leader of the day. I had a great time at the beach walking on the sand and eating the gunips that kept falling on the ground. I know you would love that! I also bought a matcha at the store but it was white and not as good as the ones in the city. I also bought you some magnets for the fridge so you do not have to remind me . I hope yall enjoy the weather in the city and enjoying love island on my behalf. I will catch up soon! Hey Melanie and Jayden if your reading. Thanks for perparing me so much for this trip!

I had a pretty fun day and was really happy that I got to call mother, even though I was overreacting a little. I just missed my bed and snow also doing my nails. I do not really miss Jalen and Kaylee but I guess I do miss our jokes. The weather is pretty nice but super hot, worse than PR. I hope times fly so I can catch up on Love Island. Alissa and Skye if your reading this I miss you guys and our facetime calls. I will remember to call you when I get my phone. The picture above is me hacking into the main frame.
