Hello everyone, it’s Jayden and Andy, your last leaders of the day. We hope all is well back home and we can’t wait to tell you all about our last day and experiences.
Today in the morning started by everyone waking up at 7:00 am, then going to breakfast which consisted of ham and cheese sandwich and toast. After breakfast we all headed to the first villa where everyone had to do their final reflection, which lasted 3 hours and everyone basically had to reflect and say our final thoughts. It was very fun and emotional, and we all enjoyed having our moments to connect with everyone and say who we will miss or even inspired us. After our final reflection we took a little break and drank some water, ate some Dominican snacks, then went back to our final reflection, and ended of by writing each other something very thoughtful and some nice words that everyone would remember when we come back to Chicago. Finally, after our final reflection was done we went to lunch and ate an amazing Dominican style dish called “sancocho”, that consisted yam, plantain, chicken, and beef with rice. The meal was very good and everyone really loved it!
Now for our final thoughts.
This trip brought so much memories and many amazing, diverse, and wonderful personalities together. Throughout this trip, all fellow glimpsers were able to bond together and gain friendships through various activities such as the bonfire last night, beach day, and most importantly the CAP project. We all greatly appreciated and enjoyed helping out different families in Constanza so they could have concrete floors instead of dirt. It touched our hearts to see the finished product from our hard work and the smiles from the families. We are all very grateful for our parents and supporters for giving every glimpser the opportunity to experience the Dominican Republic and allow us to help out towards a good cause and also build amazing friendships throughout the trip, We truly appreciate you all!
