Buenos Dias loved ones,
We woke up earlier than everyone else in order to make sure that everyone was ready on time, while it was a good initial plan we had some problems like not knowing which rooms to knock on and also it was hard to wake up some people, this made us nervous but we were able to handle it. Later we went to the Panaderia La Medalla Milagrosa to eat our breakfast and we also got the opportunity to make bread, some of us did some special shapes like hearts or braids. Orlando and Yamilet the owners also gave us a drink call chicheme, made of milk and corn, and at the end we got to eat our bread and it was SUPER GOOD.

After that, we rode a bus to visit Lucretio Batista, a pottery expert who has been practicing the art for his entire life. He was probably close to 60 years old. He showed us the experience and the precision needed to create a sculpture, and after we painted pots in order to show our personality and culture. I did some letters in the colors of the Puerto Rican flag, while my friend Anderlyn did the DR flag. Afterwards, we shared some words of encouragement, and headed back to the hotel for lunch. Today, it was Arroz Blanco (White Rice), Sopa de Pollo (Meat Soup), and some fried plantains. The soup reminded me just how my grandmother used to make it.
While we did our city tour in Chitré our Global Glimpse leader Mateo showed everybody his talent with the flute and it was a really good experience since we got that feeling of being welcome just like in our homes. While in the city we got the chance to buy stuff from one of the local stores me, Anderlyn, I got myself some glasses and a gift for someone, but my friend Hector got himself some oxygen with a little of nothing(he bought nothing). In our walk in the city everyone was screaming “Hole!!!” all the times since there were a lot of them in the floor.

Finally, we ended the day by returning to the hotel to enjoy some dinner. It was Yucca Fritas, Arroz y Frijitos (Rice and Beans), Platains de tempacion, and Pollo Guisao. The song “Baile Involiadable” was playing the background. I loved that this song was playing because Bad Bunny is the best Puerto Rican artist, so hearing one of his songs reinforced today’s message of enjoying culture.
Today was special because we got to see a whole new view on culture and what it means to pass it down to another generation. We were the first Lider Del Dias, so while it was exhausting making sure everyone was having a good time, it was rewarding to have the experience of leading the entire group!
Love to all my family members I miss all of you!!!
Hector Santana and Anderlyn Grullon
