Rachel Baker – Global Glimpse Leader

¡Hola! I’m Rachel Baker (she/her), one of your GGLs! Here is just a little bit of info about me so that you’ll know who one of the adults on your trip will be! Also, I thought a fun/ridiculous pic would be appropriate, since my goals for this trip are to have FUN and be super supportive to you students!

I am 41 years old and live in Northampton, MA with two amazing children (ages 7 and 10), one dog, a leopard gecko, and five chickens… oh, and a pretty incredible husband who is also a teacher. I began teaching in 2005 and have either taught, tutored, or worked with youth in some capacity continuously since then! Most of my teaching experience has been teaching social studies, but I am actually becoming a special education teacher this fall, which I am very excited about!

I love traveling, but I don’t get to do it as often now that I have children. I was a GGL for a trip to the Dominican Republic last summer, and Jarabacoa was beautiful! I have never been to Panama, so I am VERY excited to more about the culture and see the beautiful sights!

I also love reading, music (singing, writing songs, a cappella, and harmonizing with my husband), and ANYTHING involving water! I spend a lot of time on Lake George in the summer (in Upstate NY) and just got back from a week on the Cape!

See you all soon!

“Hey Raquel! So nice to hear from ya and learn a bit about you and your family—whoa, that’s a lot of animals! We’re all set to roll out the red carpet for ya out here! Big hugs!”
