¿Qué lo que?

Hey everyone, especially my JA1C-DR family!!!

My name is Zivon Hunter, and I’m excited to be part of your Global Glimpse journey this year. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about who I am before we begin this incredible adventure together.

I am originally from Brooklyn, New York, and I work as a Special Education Teacher at Professional Performing Arts High School. One of my greatest passions is mentoring young people and helping middle and high school students recognize their potential, develop confidence, and become leaders in their communities. Education has always been more than a career for me, it’s an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.

Outside of school, I love sports and I am a huge New York Knicks fan. As you can imagine, I’m incredibly excited that the Knicks just won the NBA Championship! Being a sports fan has taught me a lot about teamwork, resilience, dedication, and perseverance, which are qualities that are also important in leadership and life.

This will be my fifth year as a Global Glimpse Leader, and I continue to be inspired by the growth I see in students through this program. One of the highlights of my Global Glimpse experience was visiting Costa Rica multiple times, where I had the opportunity to learn from a new culture, connect with amazing people, and create unforgettable memories. This year, I am especially excited to visit the Dominican Republic and experience all the learning, service, and adventure that awaits us there.

One of my favorite quotes comes from my father, who always told me, “Education is the key to your success in life.” Those words have stayed with me throughout my life and career, and they continue to inspire the work I do with students every day. I believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom, and experiences like Global Glimpse give us opportunities to grow in ways that textbooks alone cannot.

As your Global Glimpse leader, I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and supporting you throughout this experience. Whether this is your first time traveling internationally or your first time participating in a leadership program, I hope you will embrace every opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with others. The experiences we share together will not only help us better understand the world but also ourselves.

I hope you have a wonderful experience filled with adventure, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. More importantly, I hope it is an educational experience that challenges you to think differently, broadens your perspective, and helps you discover new strengths within yourself.

I can’t wait to meet all of you, hear your stories, and begin this journey together. Thank you for being part of Global Glimpse, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

See you soon,
