Playa Day in puerto plata

June 9th, 2025, Dominican Republic, leaders of the day: Eideliz, and Janela. We had good temperature waking up this morning at 5:20 in Dilenia’s Restaurant/ Hotel, had wake up calls for everyone from 6 through 7 am and made sure everyone was on time for breakfast. For breakfast we had all kinds of cereal and fruit, watermelon and strawberries. Everyone seemed to enjoy their breakfast, after breakfast we made sure everyone got on the bus to start our day. It was a 4 hour trip to Puerto Plata from Constanza, very tiring (Although Eideliz slept the whole ride there). After arriving to Puerto Plata we had a delicious lunch, called La Bandera, the national dish of the DR.  After everyone ate lunch we headed down to the hotel we are staying at and checked into our rooms. After everyone was all checked into their rooms we headed down to Alicia beach where we hung out and got in to swim, play, and saw amazingly pretty fishes, seashells and such clear, blue water. Janela got a lot of mosquito bites, we had to do multiple head counts of 19 of us because everyone kept messing up so we had to start over. After this we walked back to the Piergiorgio Palace Hotel and returned our borrowed towels and had free time to take a shower and do things we needed to get done with. At 7:30 pm we had a seminar that a Physician hosted to explain to us about his organization for helping people in need with medical care and construction. Everyone seemed interested in the seminar and asked many questions. 8:20 pm we had dinner everyone had a order they chose so not everyone had the same meal. Janela had wings, salad, fries, and stole Lee’s chicken (Lee is a Global Glimpse Student), and Eideliz had a delicious hamburger with fries. The food was so good everyone was starving so dinner was well served, after dinner we had our final meeting to recap what we had done for today. People participated to talk about their experience so far this trip and how they felt about today as well. We personally were very happy about today’s beach day, the only downside was the 4 hour drive from Constanza to Puerto Plata which felt very long. Finally we read some comments from family on the blogs. Overall the day was very successful, peace out Janela and Eideliz.

I see you holding up those peace signs, Chloe, lol you can’t hide from me.

Btw I will be jailing myself 1000 years for this, but I finally found the DR blog!!!!! Hopefully these comments are being posted as well because I’ve been having a hard time getting them in. Maybe they’re too long? I don’t care though, this technology will not be stopping me from messaging the OG.

THEY MADE VINEDEERI REAL. I AM NOT JOKING. ALSO WE GOT SILKSONG NEWS. I hope you’re being cringe and free out there. If anyone is mean, take a picture and I’ll give them the ol’ Anvil Special.

ALSO have you looked at the moon?? I forgot to tell you, but it’s changed sides (it’s shaded on the left side for you, but on the right for me)

I hope you’re staying safe out there gangsta, if you haven’t seen it before, we miss you a lot and can’t wait to talk again 🙁

Maybe the trick really was to tweak out more than necessary? You look like you are having fun AND STAYING SAFE YOU BETTER BE STAYING SAFE

Hi Aaron! And hi Tyson! And hi everyone else! Sending you all good and foggy vibes from San Francisco!

La Bandera. Otherwise know as “the flag”. I had to look that up :). Sounds delicious. I’m going to make it when you get back.

Rigby says “hello”. And by saying “hello” I mean he’s been viciously attacking my feet. I think that means he misses you. Or it just might mean he’s crazy, I don’t know.

Hope you’re doing well and having a good time and learning a lot about the world. I love you and I miss you and I think about you all the time. Please please please take your medicine. And drink lots of water.

Love, Dad.

ps – for anyone interested (I know you don’t have any internet), the Giants have won 5 in a row and are only 1 game out of 1st place. Ha ha.

Your willingness to explore and step outside your comfort zone is truly inspiring. The woman you are becoming is something to be proud of. Watching this new chapter in your life brings immense joy and pride. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. There is certainty you will thrive in this new adventure. I can’t wait to hear all about this new adventure. Love you

Hi Aaron!

That beach looks amazing! I want to go to the DR now! I love that you are learning so much from locals, that you are exploring so much of the culture, and that you are seeing so many beautiful sights.

How many mosquito bites have you gotten? Isla would have been eaten alive- they love her blood! 🙂

We all miss you and continue to be excited by all you are doing. I hope you and Tyson have made some new friends.

In the old days, this is how people had to communicate. We had to write letters if someone was far away. Hopefully you have enjoyed hearing from us. I can’t wait to hear all about your trip when we see you.

I love you!

Love,
Mom

To my granddaughter Anayah, but better known to me as my Gumdrop! I’ve been dying to communicate with you and your mom just told me about the blog. Had I known about it I would have reached out sooner. I sooooo hope you are having a wonderful time in the DR! I’ve visited there once before and it’s a lovely place! To say that I miss you would be a HUGE understatement! I soooo miss you and that beautiful face and smile. Make a lot of new friends and stay kind. I hope you’re having a great time and learning a lot. Don’t fall in love with it so much that you won’t want to return. LOVE you Gumdrop!

Hi Eideliz and Janela, this is a great blog! I love everything from the rhythmic title, to the detailed anecdotes (multiple fails during count off) to the pluses (la bandera!) to the wishes (long bus ride).

Great photo of the group too with the ocean view in the background. Hope that seeing different parts of the DR (mountains and ocean) gives you great perspective on regional differences in the country.

Hey Nyah
It’s your cousin, first of all I love and miss you so much. And you being all the way in DR is so cool, I wish I was with you. I know you’re finding out how much of a queen you really are lol. The way you feel now is kinda how I felt when I was shipped off the the army 😆. You’re growing exponentially and I’m so proud of you. We have some Latin roots so become one with the land or whatever. lol the next time your surrounded by nature think of me so maybe I can almost be there too 🥹🥰🥰
