“New York Hits a Home Run, All the Way to the DR”

Welcome to Jarabacoa, the land of eternal spring and endless rivers!
Today we happily welcomed the students arriving from New York to spend 11 days living and learning alongside local communities.

After landing, we hopped on a bus headed to Rancho Ruiseñor, our home for the days ahead. We had a little adventure when the bus broke down, but in less than 15 minutes, a new one arrived and we were back on track!

Once settled in, we kicked off with our first seminars and shared a very Dominican dinner: mashed potatoes with pickled onions, fried cheese and salami, boiled vegetables, and tropical fruits. In between, everyone joined in for a few rounds of Uno, hide-and-seek and enjoy time in the pool.

We wrapped up the night with another seminar, where students chose the day they’ll be leading the group.

Tomorrow, program coordinators Dani and Pedro will take the lead, setting an example for the students to learn from.
That’s all for today, more stories to come from this incredible group of Glimpsers. See you tomorrow!
