Hello Glimpsers!
My name is Miriam Abdullah (pronouns: she/her). I’m excited to be one of your Global Glimpse Leaders who will be traveling with you to Panama in a few weeks (August 3rd). I’m really looking forward to it!
Just a little background about me: I teach 9th and 10th grade Science and Social Studies at Middle College High School (MCHS) in Queens, New York. I have been teaching in NYC public high schools for almost 10 years. This past year, I also served as an advisory coordinator and helped run the Student Equity Club at MCHS. Both roles have given me the opportunity to work closely with students to raise awareness and bring attention to the issues that matter most to them in the school community and in the real world.
Outside of school, I am the youngest of seven children and an auntie to 20+ nieces and nephews. Many of them are around the same age as you Glimpsers. I really enjoy spending time with them whenever I can. I also really love exploring new places, trying different foods, reading a good novel, and binge watching a good TV show!
I will be reaching out over the next few weeks to the students and families of the Glimpsers traveling to Panama on August 3rd to introduce myself and check in. This will be my first time traveling as a GG Leader, and while I am both excited and a little nervous, I am even more excited to get to know each of you and build new experiences together.
I truly believe this will be an enriching and rewarding experience for all of you. I hope you make the most of this opportunity and that this trip opens even more doors for similar experiences in the future!
