My name is Michele Sennon-Britton and I will be one of the two Global Glimpse Leaders joining you on this adventure to Turrialba! This will be my first year traveling with Global Glimpse and I am very excited to share this experience with you. I have been working at James Madison High School in Brooklyn, New York, for the past eight years. I currently serve as the advisor for the dance and cooking clubs at my school. Needless to say, I love experimenting with food and enjoy dancing. Last summer, I travelled to Mexico and served as Program Leader for a group of fourteen students from across the United States. Though deeply rewarding, a month away was a significant time to be separated from my husband and daughter.
A shorter program like the one Global Glimpse offers, aligns perfectly with my timeline this year, while offering an equally impactful experience. Global Glimpse immediately caught my attention because its core values mirror my own. A program that actively transforms lives, provides critical access, and promotes inclusivity through cultural immersion is exactly the kind of community I wanted to join. For those of us who love to serve, the community project will be an added bonus.
I come from a multicultural background, growing up in Trinidad, West Indies. My childhood there, equipped me with rich, firsthand experience in engaging with people of diverse backgrounds. I enjoy visiting new places and being exposed to different cultures. As a teenager, I participated in student exchange programs to Venezuela and Martinique. Having previously visited Costa Rica as a tourist, I am excited to return for a much more immersive and community-centered experience. Moreover, I am looking forward to finally meet and learn alongside all of you!
See you soon!
