Lucia’s Into

Hello everyone, I’m Lucia and I go to Oakland School for the Arts now as a rising senior in Oakland, CA. Outside of school I like to crochet anything from small trinkets to wearable items, such as sweaters, skirts, bags, or earrings for myself or friends. I have always been a fan of making things with my hands which has drawn me toward art, wood working, and fiber arts over the years. Going to an art school, our days are a bit longer to give us 2 hours and 30 minutes every day (but Wednesday) to our dedicated art, mine being Production Design where I learn in a woodshop, weld, stage manage, and learn theater projection primarily. Doing so, I have learned that despite being a bit introverted I love working with others and doing hands-on work.

I love pets and animals which has led me to pet sit whenever I can. My own dog’s name is Pippin and she is a Yorkie Pin! My mentioned interest in Production design has also led me to interning outside of school at a scene shop where I did metal working for LED light fixtures that will be in the entry way of the San Francisco Courage Museum opening in 2027.

I’m really interested in environmental sciences which has made this trip all the more exciting to me! I know Costa Rica has such wonderful biodiversity and I’m looking forward to meeting the locals and spending time with you all.
