Hello, families!
Day two started with even more excitement than yesterday! After getting a good night’s rest, everyone woke up ready to learn, explore, and make the most of this incredible experience.
We began the day by enjoying a delicious breakfast together before having another welcome seminar. It was a great opportunity to continue getting to know one another and to prepare for everything we would experience throughout the day.
For lunch, our students had the chance to enjoy one of the Dominican Republic’s traditional meals: rice, beans, beef, and fresh salad. It was another opportunity to experience our local culture through food, and everyone enjoyed it very much.
In the afternoon, we visited Plan Yaque, where we learned about the Community Action Project that we will be working on during our stay. The team explained how the project will help improve a walking trail, making it safer and more accessible for older adults and members of the local community.
Our students listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions, and showed genuine interest in understanding how this project can make a positive difference in people’s daily lives. It was inspiring to see their curiosity and willingness to learn before beginning the work.
After returning, we spent some time in self-reflection, giving everyone the opportunity to think about what they had learned and how today’s experiences are already shaping their perspective.
To end the day, we enjoyed a delicious pasta dinner that was definitely a favorite many students even went back for seconds! Seeing everyone sharing laughs and conversations around the table made for a wonderful ending to the day.

Before heading to bed, we wrapped up the evening with our final seminar, where students continued learning new words in Spanish and becoming more familiar with Dominican culture. Every new word is another step toward connecting more deeply with the people and communities they are meeting.
Each day brings new lessons, stronger friendships, and unforgettable experiences. We can’t wait to share tomorrow’s adventures with you!
Warm regards,
