Hello Glimpsers!
My name is Felix Cabrera and I will be one of your two GG Leaders for our exciting trip to the Dominican Republic in just three and a half short weeks! I’m looking forward to meeting you all and facilitating a safe and enlightening adventure.
A bit about me: I’m a high school social studies teacher at Oakland School for the Arts. I’ve been in education for over 8 years and have taught just about every subject, but I currently teach Ethnic Studies and AP Human Geography. My Duolingo Spanish score is currently 24 and I’m looking to get it to at least 25 before we depart, so only count on me for the vaguest of translations (and mostly of street signs😅).
My foreign travel experience includes England, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan. This will be my first trip to anywhere in Latin America. This is my first trip with Global Glimpse, but I feel like we are all in good hands with this organization.
I will be reaching out by email and by phone to about half of you in the next few weeks to learn more about you, answer what questions I can, and make sure we’re all prepared to depart on Thursday, July 23rd. I am very excited to share in this experience with you all and I know that we will leave this trip with a deeper appreciation of the world and ourselves.
