introduction: leilani Granillo Hernandez (glimpser)

Self Introduction :

My name is Leilani Granillo Hernandez, a rising senior in the class of 2027 at Freedom High School in Oakley, CA. I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture and expand my global perspective. While I am eager to learn and grow, I am also nervous about stepping outside of my comfort zone. However, I know that embracing this discomfort is a necessary part of becoming a true global leader, and I am ready to challenge myself through this journey.

A little more about myself :

I am a baker and believe that baking is a form of self-expression and art. I love stuffed animals and will probably bring 1-2 with me on the trip. And I love getting to know new people. My boyfriend is also attending Global Glimpse as a gimpser, but he is going to Panama (I am so very excited to learn about his adventures!)

What I want to learn from this trip :

From this trip to the Dominican Republic, I want to step outside of my comfort zone to develop real-world leadership skills. Through Global Glimpse’s ‘Leader of the Day’ program, I want to learn how to communicate across language barriers, make decisions under pressure, and strengthen my courage, commitment, and compassion. I am also excited to collaborate with peers from different backgrounds and bring these skills back to make a positive impact in my own school and community.
