My name is Diana Burga, and I’m one of your Global Glimpse Leaders this summer in Constanza, Dominican Republic, in June! I was born in Madrid, Spain, but raised in Los Angeles, California. My dad is from Perú, so I grew up in a Spanish-speaking multicultural household. I also lived in Madrid from ages 9–13 and spent summers in remote villages in Northern Perú, where my father’s family is from.
These experiences have shaped much of who I am today and inspired many of my passions and interests. I am currently a Spanish teacher working with students in grades 9–12 and have taught both Spanish immersion and Spanish as a second language. I love sharing my passion for language and culture with my students. Coming from a Spanish-speaking household connected to two very different cultures has shown me firsthand how diverse and rich the Spanish-speaking world truly is, and I enjoy helping students discover that as well.
I am also passionate about social justice and love continuing to learn and grow in my understanding of the world and the ways we can contribute positively to our communities and empower others.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy hiking, biking, swimming in bodies of water…really anything nature-related! I also love animals and am hoping to get a new furry companion this summer.
I’m incredibly excited to be a Global Glimpse Leader and am looking forward to meeting all of you, learning more about you, and sharing this experience together!
