Student Trip Blog
Hey! My name is Steph (she/her) and I am one of the Global Glimpse Leaders on the upcoming trip to Las Tablas, Panama. I’m 35 years old, from Ashland, Ma, and I graduated from UMass Amherst where I studied Spanish, communications and education. My love for languages led me on my first study abroad trip to Salamanca, Spain for a summer in college. I remember being so nervous and initially missing home a lot-I cried the first night! This trip turned out to be the best thing I ever did. Experiencing a new place, learning about different ways of living, trying new foods and connecting with local people pushed me outside of my comfort zone. It wasn’t always easy but those experiences helped me grow in ways I never expected and shaped me into someone more confident, curious and open to the world.
This initial trip was just the starting point. Since then I’ve been very fortunate to study, volunteer and teach in several countries across Latin America and Southeast Asia. It was during my travels I also met my dog Forest who is still my number one companion to this day!
