Immigration Day!!

Hello, here today’s LDDs , Carmen and Simone.

We started our day bright and early at 5 AM. Today was an exciting and eventful day full of joy. After breakfast, we got straight on the bus transported for almost 4 hours to our first activity of the day, which was meeting with our guest speaker at Kerolle Initiative for Community Health (KICH) which was Dr. Reginal Kerolle. There, we learned about Haitian Immigration in the DR, their living situation, their struggles and how they as an institution support those vulnerable people.

In the afternoon, we arrive to our accommodations and we “surprised” the other glimpsers with an afternoon at beach. We went walking to the beach.

While being at the beach, we enjoyed activities such as playing volleyball, swim race, enjoying some delicious fruit and had our first 10 minute call back home.

After the beach, back at the hotel, we still had some energy to play at the pool before heading back to our rooms to get ready for our next activity.

On our way to the lobby to meet everyone, the PC surprise us with a sunset party, in which some played card games, others called back home and took many sunset pictures.

After enjoying the sunset and ocean breeze we were served our dinner by super kind waiters and after all we had our nightly meeting alongside the beautiful view and handed over our torch to the next LDDs.

Till next time, Carmen and Simoné, OUT!

5AM!!! That must’ve been a shock to the system for most of you. Props for powering through. It sounds like the day included some tough but important conversations—really cool that y’all showed up and took it in. The beach and pool in those photos look amazing. Glad y’all got to end the day with some fun. Cheers.
