Hello JA1D!

Hello Global Glimpsers and families! My name is Jeske Gillis (she/her) and I am one of your Global Glimpse Leaders (GGLs). I am so excited to meet all of you during our trip together!

This will be my fourth year with Global Glimpse and my second trip! In 2024 I traveled to Turrialba, Costa Rica with GG and had a wonderful time! I love traveling and have traveled with husband, family, friends, and solo to roughly 16 countries I even lived abroad in Barcelona for a few months after college. Some of my favorite travel destinations include Sydney, Australia and Bali, Indonesia. This summer I have been quite a homebody, staying in with my 4 month old puppy mostly but I am looking forward to our big adventure in a few short weeks!

Growing up in California, I love the beach, hiking, and other outdoor activities, and am very excited about all the nature we will experience together in Jarabacoa. I also love sports – growing up I played soccer, and lacrosse, & cheered but in my adult life have joined a rec league for sand volleyball and have grown to love it (despite being vertically challenged). I attended two Pac12 schools for college and grad school so I follow college during the Fall. Go Card and sco Ducks! I love supporting Bay Area teams like Bay FC and Valkyries as well!

I teach math and computer science at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and I cannot wait to bring back what I learned from our trip and from you all and share it with my students.
