Greetings From The Bay!!!

Hello everyone!!! My name is Gabriel Tan. I’m an upcoming senior at Tennyson High School and I’m traveling to Chitre, Panama this July!

I love art! I especially love music. I’ve been a part of my school’s music program since 7th grade and I currently play the viola.

Not only do I love playing instruments, but I also love listening to music. Some of my favorite albums include “Imaginal Disk” by Magdalena Bay and “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” by Olivia Rodrigo. Both of these albums have messages hidden within their songs that would require you to listen multiple times; trust me when I say that you would only appreciate the albums more with each relisten.

When I was younger, I was known as the shy, quiet kid back in elementary. I could never for the life of me make new friends during recess or lunch. While I’d consider myself much more extroverted now than I was back then, I’m still just a teensy bit shy when meeting new people. Traveling to a new country far away from all my family and close friends will definitely be a new experience for me.

So, why do I mention all this? Well, I’m really looking forward to seeing the culture and the arts of Panama. I’m especially excited to hear the music! Not only that, but I’m hoping that I can be pushed out of my comfort zone to form strong bonds with my fellow Glimpsers.

I’m sure that many stories will be told on this trip and many more will be formed. 😁

Be sure to check out our blogs when we travel on July 27th!
