At the butt crack of dawn, we were woken up by a flying cockroach and an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 (we didnt feel it.) We would not trade that for the world. Ok, we’d trade it for anything. We started the morning off with a gong and enjoyed banging on everyone’s doors. After breakfast of mashed potatoes, eggs, eggs on eggs, and eggs, we were beefing about who would ride which bus. After a desperate game of rock, paper, scissors, some of us were forced to ride in a luxury 2025 air-conditioned van. (Lindsay) Others got to ride the dark, gloomy, depressing, noisy, 2015 Mitsubishi truck. Still, we all made it to the school in one piece, some of us cooler than others. After a battle about who would carry the wáter jugs, we were shown the first mural we were to paint. While some of us painted the mural, others continued painting trash cans to beautify the school grounds.

Lunch was rice with vegetables, lentils, chicken, and Zoe’s face (see photo). Very Dominican. After lunch, we went back to the school and painted a second mural and more trash cans. Some of us painted beautiful landscapes, flowers, and butterflies. Lindsay painted SpongeBob. The boys lost the soccer ball yet again, and Dani had to climb a wall and fight off three vicious dogs to get the soccer ball back. She came out victorious, though the ball looked a bit worse for wear.

We got back to the villa after a very insightful bus ride about relationships (and dancing). Lindsay wants to interrupt this blog to announce that America bullies her every night. Then we played UNO No Mercy to the death. As Reena says, it always comes back, so there might be a bug in Sean’s bed tonight. We’ll have to find out on tomorrow night’s final episode of GG Blog.

As this trip comes to an end, we are excited that we do not have to sleep with 6 yelling Lindsays, 5 juicy cockroaches, 4 thick worms, 3 feisty mosquitoes, 2 venomous spiders, and a flying gecko in a Mango tree. Merry Christmas, everyone!

PS Los extraño mucho, cuando llegue a Chicago, no me van a espantar los insectos (Lindsay)
PPS It always comes back (a flying cockroach appeared as we were writing this. We all jumped and screamed in terror.) (Reena)
PPPS Los extraño mucho, espero que tengan todo limpio para mi. I will be there soon! (Zoe)
