Once again, we woke up at 7:00 AM after our final night in Constanza. We had a simple cereal breakfast, followed by a longer seminar as part of our final reflection. During this session, we participated in several exercises to reflect on all we had done and learned during our time in the Dominican Republic.
One of the activities involved everyone answering the same four questions, but instead of writing our names, we each chose a symbol that represented us. After we finished, the GGLs displayed the responses around the room, and we did a gallery walk to read and reflect on each other’s thoughts.
For our final meal in Constanza, we enjoyed a delicious lunch of meatballs, rice, and beans. Afterward, all the students completed a digital survey to provide Global Glimpse with helpful feedback. We then had some free time before departing for Santiago at 3:00 PM. Some students visited nearby shops for souvenirs or snacks, while others relaxed at the hotel.
At 3:00, we loaded onto the bus for our two-hour ride to Santiago. This ended up being our favorite bus ride—our playlist was connected to the speakers, and we all sang along to some great throwback music.
Once we arrived at the hotel in Santiago, we had a short time to settle in before our final dinner together in the D.R. We crossed the street to enjoy some amazing New York-style pizza near the Monumento de Santiago. The food was so good that many of us left feeling more than full.
After dinner, we walked over to the monument for our final nightly meeting. Once the meeting ended, we had a little free time to walk around the monument, take pictures with Mario, or even buy a toy laser gun from a local vendor. Around 9:00 PM, we returned to the hotel to rest before our early travel day.
Anthony:
Hi everyone! Today was a lot of fun. I soaked in my final moments in the D.R., taking in the beautiful mountain views and spending time with all my new friends. My parents know how much I love New York-style pizza, so dinner was definitely a highlight. Can’t wait to see you all soon!
Jasmine:
Hi, it’s me! I had a really good time today. I had a little sing-along with my friends during the bus ride, and the hotel is realllyyyy nice—I like it loads. And the pizza for dinner was bussin’, like so good. My highlight was realizing, along with everyone else, that these were our last moments together in the Dominican Republic with Global Glimpse. It was beautiful to see everyone bonding.
That’s all—peace out!
