Hello All, its your special LDD’s Akrem and Kris leading the final full day in Panama. Today was a rollercoaster of emotions for all of us. We woke up bright and early at 7:00 am with all of our bags prepared for our trip to panama city. Breakfast for today consiteed of pancakes eggs with cheese and tortillas with a bev of arroz (rice) and pineapple juice. After breakfast, it was time for the final reflection seminar. Heading into this seminar, we knew we were in for an emotional couple of hours.
To start off the seminar we all sat in our usual circle but today it was different, we all closed our eyes and Angela Davis explained to us about the fun memories we’ve had throughout this trip and all the strangers we’ve met in our group slowly turned into life long friends. We then began to reflect with a global glimpse journey. We all got into our CAP groups and reflected with 4 deep questions about the journey of our trip. Answering these questions made us really think deeply about our experiences on this trip. After this quick little ice-breaker activity we then moved onto something new, something different, something we were’t expecting; a small circle of chairs was created and 6-7 glimpsers sat in them and closed thier eyes.
Not knowing what came next we all sat and waited until further instructions were given; the outer circle glimpersers were to stand up from their seats and tap the shoulders of the inside circle based on the prompts if they applied to the glimpsers in the circle. This activity really showed peoples true colors in a positive way. Some prompts included things like “Touch someone who has made an impact on your life”. Not having any clue of how many taps we were going to get or see who was tapping us, really left all of us in an emotional tangle, After opening up our eyes and looking at others around us with laughter, smiles, and tears of joy really made this seminar a lot more meaningful.
After this activity, we then had to reflect on one thing that we want to stop, start, and continue doing after this trip and write it down on a poster. This small little activity was a little refresher after a little waterworks from the past activity. A small activity, but it had a powerful impact on ourselves for the future. Now it was time for the most emotional part of the seminar, the final big loves. This activity brought out the most tears out of anything we’ve ever done.
To start off this emotional activity kris (#LDD) passed around a paper to everyone in the circle, including the GGL and the PC’s. We wrote our name on it and we had to pass it around so that we would get someone else’s paper. We had to write a message to the person depending on the name. Coming from our perspectives of this activity, getting someone else’s paper and seeing the name of different friends really made the memories we’ve made with that person from this 11 day journey start to flow. After writing 23 long messages to all our friends, we got our own paper back and immediately flipped it over so that we wouldn’t be spoiled from messages by others. When told to flip the page over, after a few minutes tears began to fall as we read the Big Loves we recieved from our fellow glimpsers, and we all shared out emotions with the whole group. Lots of big love from our peers only created more tears of joy, but also sadness that this long journey was coming to an end.
We then took a 5 hour bus ride to panama city where we met our hotel we visited the first night ever from this trip. But even after all this it didnt stop us from enjoying the last two days we have together on this trip.
Hello mother this is your son kris I love you and you mean the world to me.
We can’t wait to get home and see everybody tomorrow!!!!
