Final CAP Day!

Everyone woke up today very excited for our final CAP day. We had a quick, very exciting breakfast of pancakes before we all headed out to start the day off early at the trail. Everyone bug-sprayed and sun-blocked before we walked our way to the trail, grabbing our tools and getting to work. Most people worked on staircases, one going to the top of the hill and one going to the bottom. Both were very hard work, and everyone was sweating their butts off. Other groups were also working on mixing our cement for the railings, while some dug holes to put the poles in. We had some music playing to make the labor a little more fun, and enjoyed some Michael Jackson, Bad Bunny, Madonna, and some fun summer hits. We actually finished about double of what they were expecting us, so the next delegation will probably be making benches and signs. Overall, we dug around 60 or so stairs. We broke for lunch, and thankfully got our tractor back so we didn’t have to walk the trail. Lunch was good and just what we needed to keep our energy up to finish our final CAP. After our lunch break, we continued our stairs, holes, and lookouts. We built four staircases in total, a large drainage trench, three posts for railings, and a viewpoint at the top of the hill. It was a great workday all around. We even saw some puppies, kittens, chickens, and chicks that were great company. There was even a family swimming in the river we were working on, El Yaque. Everyone was pretty jealous and wanted to take a dip themselves. We said goodbye to Luka, Victor, and Julien, who were the heads of the plan. After we got back, there was an intense volleyball match that went on, consisting of lots of diving and a few spikes to the head. The others were bonding in the common area. Dinner was a hit among all of us Glimpsers, we had a make-your-own-taco bar. Big shoutout to all the cooks here, dinner was amazing. Our nightly meeting was at eight, which we (Rachael and Sam) led. We passed over the torch to the new leaders of the day, Nawra and Blessing. They did a VERY impressive rendition of the Cup Song, which everyone was cheering for. We’re ending off our night by playing Mafia as a group, and maybe we’ll even sneak in some poker.

Sam’s Shoutout: I love and miss Collin, all my family, and my friends. Liv, you better be keeping on top of everything at the house. Mom and Dad, I miss you loads and see you soon.

Rachael’s Shoutout: Love and miss you Mom. Can’t wait to see you Sunday and I have been loving the comments!
