Hello from Turrialba! This is Thomas and Everest, today we explored and learned the history of Turrialba, the hometown of our very own GGL, Memo. I can’t believe we were so lucky with the weather today! It made our trip into the city that much better!
We woke up bright and early at 7:00 in the morning to make sure everyone was up and ready for the day. For breakfast, the amazing chefs at the basehouse made us tostada frances, huevos, platanos, gallo pinto, fresh fruit and of course a freshly squeezed juice!
We walked over to the public bus and took a 20 minute ride right into the heart of the city. We enjoyed buying and meeting the locals who offered us a deal on their art. Soon after, we walked to the mercado, and bought all sorts of goods! The icecream we got on the way back to the bus stop was to die for!
We were so exhausted when we got back to the basehouse, you know we had to get some snacks for the movie tonight, the movie were watching is White Chicks. (and of couse we played some pool–we are the best in the group).
We planned out our CAP (community action project) day before shortly having an amazing dinner. Our dinner included fish, mashed potatoes, salad, and rice. Thank you to the chefs for making a special plate for me(Thomas) because I am allergic, the barbudo was delicious!
All in all today was a very fun and exciting day, we learnt a lot about the culture of Turrialba, and enjoyed our time in the city!

Hello again! I miss you Mariah! I hope you’re enjoying all the foods out there, most of which you have had already, LOL! Maybe you’ll start liking avocados now! I can’t imagine how you and some of the other kids there must feel without access to cell phones! LOL! This is a very good time to reset your mind, enjoy nature and your surroundings, meet new people, and have different experiences. I love you and I hope you’re having a good time. The doggies, birdies, grandma, Victor, etc, – they all miss you. Hurry hurry. Love you!
