Hola familias y amigos, soy Meghan!
Today, we went back to Turrialba, where we got lunch at a bakery, and listened to our guest speaker talk about environmental justice in Costa Rica. Our amazing breakfast this morning consisted of pancakes, fried plantains, rice and beans, sausage, and eggs. We had originally planned to visit a waterfall today, but unfortunately, today’s morning rain called for other plans instead. We took a bus to Turrialba around 10am, and had a chance to take a picture in front of the sign before exploring the city some more. Before lunch, many of us stopped for shaved ice “Granizado” from a local street vendor, while others got ice cream. For lunch, we all enjoyed incredible sandwiches from a bakery while sitting in the redecorated vintage train car right outside. Along with our sandwiches, we had fresh juice and potato chips. Some of us stepped into the bakery to buy dessert before heading back on the bus.

Hola everyone! My name is Addie and today I was leader of the day with Meghan.
After taking the bus back to the basehouse, most Global Glimpsers took a nap or participated in a quiet activity like journaling. At 3:30pm we listened to our guest speaker, “Fofo,” talk about preserving the natural beauty of Costa Rica. We also learned about how Costa Rican nature is being negatively impacted by foreign corporate companies. Next, we said thank you and goodbye before taking part in a dance party, cards or even playing soccer. At around 6:30pm we enjoyed a delicious dinner which consisted of lasagna and salad with fresh pinapple and banana juice. To wrap up the night, we had some freetime before hosting a nightly meeting in order to prepare us for another awesome day in Costa Rica. Overall, although we may have has some curve balls thrown at us, our optimistic mindset and positive energy enabled us to have another amazing day and create many more fun memories.

Adiossssssss
