Downtown turrialba

Today Lily and David woke up the group at 6:30am for breakfast at 7:30 consisting of an omelet and a variety of fruits with yogurt and granola. At 8:45 the group took the long trek up the very steep hill to catch the public bus and head to downtown Turrialba. There we went to a thrift store, park, and an ice cream store. After, we rushed to catch the bus back to the basehouse. On the way back we stopped at a local corner store to buy snacks. At 1pm we ate a tasty lunch consisting of fried rice and steamed vegetables. Not too long later, we met for a CAP seminar where we split up into 3 groups to discuss resources, steps, and task distribution for completing our Community Action Project. Right after, we prepped for our cultural exchange. This consisted of us splitting into 3 groups and creating activities for the elementary students to celebrate the beginning of their summer break. Some activities the groups will participate in are American Football, creation of fourtune tellers, and red light-green light. A couple of our group members are tasked with translating with Spanish. Next, the group had free-time where people played different types of card games and hung out together. Also during this time, calls were made to families. At 6:30 dinner was served which was a salad with different toppings. At 7 we had a quick nightly meeting where we introduced our new group leaders, Ethan and Raegan, who will lead the CAP project tomorrow. To wrap up the day we had a movie night where we watched 21 Jump Street. Today was tiring but as leaders of the day, we learned about others and ourselves.

Big Love Lily and David 🙂
