Diggin’ with some surprised visitors…

Hello family and friends! It’s your SF girlies Jennifer, Sofia, and Emily. While today may have been very similar to yesterday, it came with many surprises.

This morning started like most others. With a delicious breakfast of omelets, toast, and fruits. After breakfast we started the walk to the CAP site, shovels and all.

Even though we were tired from last nights after dark dance lessons, we got to work right away. We made lots of progress, especially with the lack of rocks. All was well until we encounter our not so friendly company… THE ANTS. The surprise attack was over almost as fast as it started. As the ants attacked so did we, by choosing the passive route of letting them be. All of us came out of the attack unharmed for the most part. After the morning grind we were able to walk back to base for a lunch of casado, chicken, plantains, salad, and watermelon juice.

After a lovely lunch we were sent back to work. We dug being mindful of the ants, encountering some even bigger ones along the way. We were able to finish our section for the day and burry the pipe.

Then we dragged our tired bodies back to camp only to be met with a writing activity. Although it was tiring, it was worth it, as we wrote to our supporters thanking them. After, we all sat down together for our last meal of the day, chicken salad with tamarind juice.

As a night comes to close we are looking forward to our guest speaker and a beautiful hike to the waterfall. We hope you are having a wonderful day or night! See you in the next one. Peace out from your SF girlies!

Hi Sofia, Emily, and SF students!
Great work as LDDs today! I’m glad to hear about your CAP progress and how you found a way to coexist with the ants. I’m looking forward to hearing more about your trip once the school year starts. Have fun during your remaining days in Turrialba!
