Day four: Trip to turrialba

Hello from Costa Rica! This is Clare and Zara, the Day Four Leaders. Following our Salsa lesson in last night’s meeting, we had a dance party and that spirit and movement has continued through today with lots of music during our free time.

The two of us woke up at 6:50 and knocked on everyone’s cabin doors to get them up for 7. At 8 we ate a delicious breakfast with pancakes, fruit, and eggs. A little before 9 we headed out to Turriabla, where we took the public bus and some brave Glimpsers spoke to locals to practice their Spanish.

At the Turriabla bus station, some members ran into the family they visited yesterday! We then traveled to a park and took a group photo. We went thrifting, then spilt off to a bakery and an ice cream shop. From there we headed back to the base house and ate lunch. After, we had our second CAP seminar, ready to start the project tomorrow morning bright and early. You might already know what we did next–we called you! But we also jumped in the pool during a torrential downpour. There was a leak in the roof which made some people disappointed because the water dripped all over the pool table, but we put a mug underneath it to collect some water–already starting our conservation efforts in lieu of tomorrow’s work! We then brainstormed for our cultural exchange with a local elementary school, picking out different types of activities to do with the kids. We ate a dinner of chickpea stew with rice and a bunch of veggies. After a vicious tournament of spoons (Morgan won), we headed to our nightly meeting where tomorrow’s leaders did a rap battle for their talent where Harper destroyed Pranav’s self worth (don’t worry it was scripted) and Jasmin taught us all how to keep the beat. We watched Grown Ups for Movie Night (continuing our Adam Sandler inside joke) and headed to bed.

Hope everything is good back home (sad I didn’t get to talk to you Dad, miss you – Zara)

Pet Romi + Chaps for me. -Clare

Mo — Just a quick note from your #1 fan 💖 I hope you’ve seen at least one monkey or sloth, gotten a cool stamp in your passport, and haven’t gotten a cavity from all that candy you packed 😬 I’m seriously missin our Dunkin’ runs and our 11:11 wishes. But most of all, I’m missing your hugs. I love that you’re enjoying the pool and your new friends. Looking forward to hear about your projects you’ll be starting. Counting the days till I can squeeze you xoxo,Mama 💕
